A Tale of Two Children

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.................

Parenthood is a game, a card game of trade-offs. You have a hand of cards and you can only have X # of cards in your hand at once, so you have to make little "deals". I'll trade you an almost 11-month old who STTN, for a 4 1/2 year old who will regress to temper tantrums.

See, it's a game. You make a "deal" to resolve an issue with one of your children, in exchange for an equal or greater problem that arises with the other. If only these trades had monetary rewards that came with them, I'd have found myself a successful new career. It's like that first glorious night that Sadie STTN, only to have Ben wet the bed at 2 am. You can never actually "win" at this game, you can only measure your success at it by how much frustration and aggravation is expelled as yelling towards your spouse.
